Here's a sample of the traditional "draw your shoes" exercise. The object was to draw them without looking at the paper. (Drawing with their eyes)....
We were outside so there was some good texture on the ground and the sun gave some great shadows.
Dalton drew the sandals below, he really got the perspective well. (Birds eye view).

Here's portrait Cosmo worked on, he's practicing his proportions and shading.... this was from his imagination. Good work!

The next 2 are still life's we did the same day as a warm up exercise. It was more complicated than usual, with lots of leaves, twigs and little buds - I asked them to look at their paper only when they were not drawing. Telling them to outline it or "trace it with their eye's" made it easier to get started. They all did a great job on this one.

I'm not sure who did this one, I like it as an example.
Hey, you have GOT to sign your work!

This one's Jesse's. He's turning 10.
I asked him to put it ON something, to give it a horizon line - like the table top. He wanted to give the idea of perspective his way, so drew a road. I have to admit, it works! Now, where's the light source?
Ethan drew the following lately, when he was going to go fishing. I like the attention to detail and the mixed media - pen, graphite and soft pastel pencil. Notice the piece of land, with the water in front AND behind it, making it look really 3D!

Then, there's the oil pastel landscapes, which started as an experiment and has been growing on the kids....
and then Lucas - 12, who's become very prolific lately.
More to come!
