SUMMER CLASSES 2015

Well, it's been a while, life is busy busy! This years post (ha ha) is about keeping this blog updated, with more information about current classes. There's no excuses, except the digital world makes my brain a little floaty and pressed, all at once.

The classes at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts are still ongoing -

EVERY WEDNESDAY 3:30 to 5pm
EVERY SATURDAY   10:30 to 12pm

and a NEW NEW NEW CLASS
in SANTA ROSA

at the ReStyle Market Place in the G&G Shopping Center (yup)
EVERY MONDAY 3:30 to 5pm

The Santa Rosa class currently has younger and older students. The objective is to learn to draw, learn to draw BETTER! More advanced students who already are comfortable sketching and drawing, know something about perspective, contrast and color, will benefit from the practice and problem solving regarding these subjects. As usual, art history and the language of art is all part of the program. Most materials are provided, donations are always accepted.

Please email Barbie Watts at bwatts@sonic.net for class fees and discounts available.

FALL 2014 AWESOME ART CLASSES

Wow. What a year! No posts, as you can see. It's been such an adventure, just keeping up with life and the classes was enough for me. Then. ... But this is now! There's so many great ideas and cool projects that can be done. Can't wait to share them with the children. The class was "off" for the month of August. Recovering and renewing from my husbands illness that almost took him from me. John is a fabulous artist as well!

Awesome Art and Drawing Classes
at Sebastopol Center for the Arts
282 S. High Street, Sebastopol, CA  http://sebarts.org/index.php

SO HERE'S THE SCHEDULE!! Same as always,
Wednesdays - 3:30 to 5:00

Saturdays - 10:30 to 12:00

There is no set schedule, it's a workshop that lets students learn at their own pace - which makes it great for mixed ages. It's $20 for one class or $60 for 4. Classes can be taken either day and must be taken within 45 days of first attendance. It makes a great fit with school and other activities because it's so flexible and the main projects or focus in the workshops is usually the same in each class.

You can register with the front desk at the Art Center or by email to bwatts@sonic.net.

Please feel free to email me any questions or if you need more information.

Thanks and hope to see you there!

Summer 2013 Art and Drawing IS Awesome!

It's been a long time, but finally, we're back and ready to show some of the students art again!
The classes never stop, my time is just short and sweet and never enough to do all those things I want to - like tell the world about the classes and the talented children in them.

This summer I'm teaching in Sebastopol, at the new and improved Sebastopol Center for the Arts on High Street, sharing the old Veterans Memorial. It's a great space and they've done some phenomenal work to make it so.

I teach on Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5 in the Ceramics Room and Saturdays 10:30 to 12:00 in the Fireside room. We've been having anywhere from 2 to 7 students showing up at a time and having a wonderful summer, working on still life's, life drawing, techniques and different mediums. The younger students LOVE the water soluble pastels and the older ones seem to be attracted to the graphite and real chami's (chamois clothes) to get that soft, modeling in their drawings. The chamois is purchased at the local kMart store from the auto supply department - a 'detailing' item that you can get a good square foot or 2 out of for about $14 and the art store will sell it to you for $5 for 4 inches.... go figure. Chami's are great, re-useable and washable.

Here's some of the still life's and other art from the last couple months:

this still life is from new student, Aliah....

her friend, Aliya and...

a long time student, Emily

and of course, not everything is still and serious...
there's always allot of crazy life at Buck's Skate Park!

Jada's Kurly Kitty

Leyla;s Original Girl

Kayla's Deer....

Alex's flowers.....

and sometimes, it's not what you do... for Emerson, it's HOW MUCH..

Like Picasso... or Matisse. They were the most prolific artists in the modern world. Says something about how to be successful. Do enough artwork, SOMETHING'S going to get attention...

Sapphire...

Oh.. Sapphire. My mother's cat. It's her fault. I love her. Charcoal is do-able.. It's soft. Smudgy. I work slowly and sometimes rub with a hard brush, hooked on to my glove/splint. It works pretty well, but like I said.. slow... but worth it, yes?

Happy Face - Happy Day....

Hello. It's been a long time since I've visited my own blog.
It's a very cool place. I can post some of my art and pictures.
Like I can NOT on Facebook. Facebook, shmacebook.
Hopefully, you found this from the link I was able to post... or maybe not. I may start an e-mail campaign. WHY do I have to buy a new computer to get the software in order to communicate with friends and family?
WHY .. why whhhh... whhiiiiine....
Here's my pic. Hope you like it. More to come.
In the meantime, teaching has been a challenge, with my hands being such a 'pain', but I really love being with the children. It's what makes my life make sense. Whew. Something's got to in this world. John, my husband, has been doing most of the cutting, pasting, mixing and even setting up, so I can keep doing my 'hobby' .. hmmm. He's almost an honorary art teacher! Go John, Go!
Well. I'll sign off for now and hope to share something with more substance, soon! Right now, it's 'baby steps'.. ;)
HAPPY DAYS AND ABUNDANT LOVE!

Sebastopol Kids Art Class - Info for Fall

Here's the flyer for the other after school art class - well, after school once school starts! The class we're holding at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts is in the Ceramics Room, a light and airy place with lots of table space and loads of art supplies. If they don't have it, I'll bring it! The last time we met we put paint on the feet of Lucas's tiny, wind up robot, and made a mini-painting from it's little feet. It looked kind of cool... considering it was done by a toy. ;)

The classes should start this week! Gleep! July 28, 2010. Wednesday. 3:30. Sebastopol.
Drop In's welcome - please e-mail ahead of time. We do need a minimum of 4 students.
Look forward to seeing some of the regulars and some new faces, ready to draw, have fun and learn about art, drawing, color, mediums.. and more!

If you can't read the dates, they start July 28, Aug 25, Sept 22, Oct 20

You can start any time. E-mail me if you have any questions!
