Summer 2013 Art and Drawing IS Awesome!

It's been a long time, but finally, we're back and ready to show some of the students art again!
The classes never stop, my time is just short and sweet and never enough to do all those things I want to - like tell the world about the classes and the talented children in them.

This summer I'm teaching in Sebastopol, at the new and improved Sebastopol Center for the Arts on High Street, sharing the old Veterans Memorial. It's a great space and they've done some phenomenal work to make it so.

I teach on Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5 in the Ceramics Room and Saturdays 10:30 to 12:00 in the Fireside room. We've been having anywhere from 2 to 7 students showing up at a time and having a wonderful summer, working on still life's, life drawing, techniques and different mediums. The younger students LOVE the water soluble pastels and the older ones seem to be attracted to the graphite and real chami's (chamois clothes) to get that soft, modeling in their drawings. The chamois is purchased at the local kMart store from the auto supply department - a 'detailing' item that you can get a good square foot or 2 out of for about $14 and the art store will sell it to you for $5 for 4 inches.... go figure. Chami's are great, re-useable and washable.

Here's some of the still life's and other art from the last couple months:

this still life is from new student, Aliah....

her friend, Aliya and...

a long time student, Emily

and of course, not everything is still and serious...
there's always allot of crazy life at Buck's Skate Park!

Jada's Kurly Kitty

Leyla;s Original Girl

Kayla's Deer....

Alex's flowers.....

and sometimes, it's not what you do... for Emerson, it's HOW MUCH..

Like Picasso... or Matisse. They were the most prolific artists in the modern world. Says something about how to be successful. Do enough artwork, SOMETHING'S going to get attention...
